Hugh Laurie, the star of the TV show House, used to be part of the
comedy team "A Touch of Fry and Laurie" (Stephen Fry being the other
guy). Anyway, there is a video of him singing his original song "I'm In
Love with Steffi Graf"

I'm sorry, but the thought of Bertie Wooster singing a song about love and
Steffi Graf is more than I can take at 8:30 on a Wednesday morning. If it
were Friday at noon, it would be no problem, but having this sprung on me so
early on Wednesday is beyond my power....

So Bertie's in love with Steffi Graf, eh? Do Aunt "Chris" Agatha and
Aunt "Martina" Dahlia know? Woe betide the silly boy if those two find
out.

Well, it really isn't Fry-as-Bertie. I imagine Bertie would duck behind a
couch or beat a hasty retreat to the Drones Club or even some resort
on the French Riveria if a woman like Steffi (or even a woman unlike
Steffi, for that matter) were in his general vicinity. And MN is
completely miscast as the "good and deserving" aunt!!

Well, yes, I tried to think of someone who had a voice like a foghorn,
but the only one whose voice even comes close -- though not quite
measuring up to Dahlia's standards -- is dear old Pamela Howard "When I
beat Steffi at the Garden..." Shriver, and there's no way in hell I can
see her as Aunt Dahlia. And besides, between CE and MN, the latter has
always seemed nicer, so I had to cast Chrissie as Agatha and Martina as
Dahlia. :-)

Well, maybe as the younger, fox-hunting Aunt Dahlia -- but wait, no.
I would think Shriver is too slow of foot to play even an older Aunt
Dahlia. How about Killie Bean Jing, er, Billie Jean King with her rah-rah
cheerleading?

Actually, the comic potential of MN in a marcel wave and editing
a publication called "Milady's Boudoir" has it's possibilities.

Egads, no! The woman seems to have absolutely no sense of humour, and
that just won't do when it comes to playing Aunt Dahlia. (This thread
on casting makes me have visions of Steffi as Madeline Bassett waxing
poetic about "God's daisy chain".)

Hee...although it must be pointed out that Madame Evert has -- um, how
do I say this in as gentlemanlike a manner as possible? -- more
"experience in ze matters of ze boudoir".

My turn to say: Egads, no! Steffi isn't nearly drippy and sappy and
moon-eyed enough to play The Bassett. Maybe Honoria Glossop: strong
and sensible, able to mould her men.

The line was long, but it moved quickly. Still, MN wasn't exactly a
one-partner type of woman herself. And back to CE, apparently she
and Steffi can get along for at least a little while, because they've
sat together in the stands at last year's USO and this year's Delray
Beach. Probably swap stories about their kids.
